Europe Tour 2009

miasto Mozarta / Mozart's city

au
Austria - Salzburg
16.07.2009
885 km

We are at noon in Salzburg. I guess we pass by the whole town before we get to the old town. It's nice that there aren't any big blocks and high rises, only old tenements and villas. We leave the car in a side street, it's possible for maximum three hours. And we walk to the old city in a tunnel under a mountain.
I can see all the time that it's a Mozart's city. His face is everywhere. And there is a big school of his name. I can see a castle on a hill.

Wchodzimy do bazyliki.

We take a look to one of the churches near a beautiful market. There are stalls with fruits, warm food, it's lovely and colourful (on the market, not in the church ;) ). The church seems normal, it's a pity I can't listen to the organs.
Well, everywhere here are many posters and leaflets showing concerts. It's a pity that we can't stay for at least one but the time runs out again.

We follow narrow streets and go to the riverside. On the other shore there is another part of the town but we go back to look for the Mozart's House. It's not hard, it's just enough to take the most crowded street in the city. Mozart was born here.
The tenement is like others instead of an inscription. On the ground floor there's a shop with icecream and fish sanwiches. But it's enough to climb groomy stairs to the first floor and the atmosfere is completely different, I can hear music. We don't go inside, we would have to pay another euros and the time is running all the time ;)

Pięknie to wszystko z góry wygląda.

The last thing to do is to see the view from the castle hill. There is a funicular going up but we don't understand the prices, the tickets are expensive, I guess they include the entrance to the museum, but we have no time to get there anyway. Well, the castle doesn't look encouragingly, it's scratched and so on ;)
So we walk up to the gate, it's not so far. And the views are fantastic, there are a few places on the way to stop and take a look. I can see almost the whole town in the valley from the castle hill. It all looks beautiful from up here.

Z góry wypatrzyłam jakiś stary cmentarz przy małym kościółku. To Friedshof.

I could see a small old cementary near a small church from up there. It's Friedshof. Walking down it's just in front of us so I can't let go ;) The cementary is nice, but there are too many people to enjoy it and feel the atmosphere.
On the way we take a look to the Franzosen Kirche and we must go fast to not get a ticket for the car ;)

Mijamy wiele tuneli, góry coraz wyższe i strome widać.
Zatrzymujemy się w St. Johann, robimy w końcu zakupy w jakimś markecie typu nasza Biedronka.

When we were driving around before I saw a small restaurant with food from Bosnia. We look for it driving back, we must eat something anyway. There aren't pleyskavitza anymore but there are cevapcici :) They are so yummy, I have a first sign of south at this holiday :) And now we must say good bye to Salzburg...
The A10 road takes us to the mountains. We are looking for a supermarket, there are a few near slip roads, but we can see them too late to react. We pass by many tunnels, the mountains are more and more high and steep.
Finally we stop in St. Johann, we buy some things in a small supermarket.
