Rzym / Rome 2012
znów jestem w Rzymie! / I'm in Rome again!
Italia - Roma
5.12.2012
1 237 km
Więc wychodzę dość późno i jadę do miasta.
The weather changes every few minutes, at the beginning the sun is shining, then cumuluses appear (december!) and finally it starts raining. So I go out quite late and take the metro to the city. I take off at Circo Massimo. Which is being rebuilt I guess ;)
The next direction is Colosseo. As always here, crowd of tourists, carabinieri, Indians sell their neckerchief and the hell knows what else. I sit down at old stones. When the sun is shining it's lovely warm :) When clouds come, not so much.
I don't hurry today, so I just walk without any plan, visiting the places I already know and those I don't. And untill this moment it's lazy and I could say a little bit boring ;)

I go a bit farther, 'cause I know the place with a nice view over Colosseo. And a buddy starts talking to me, that he's from Germany, that he travels with hid father, who makes business here. So he says ;) And that he's got an apartament 20 minutes from here and it could be nice, hahaha. He introduces himself as Andrew. Hmm, I don't even feel like chequing if he really speaks German. But he was useful anywany, he's showed me where free tolietes were ;) We say good bye at the entrance to the metro.
I take the paths I know to Piazza Venezia. I go to a bar for a piece of pepperoni. I can't resist, it was just in Rome I have eaten the best pizza in the world. And it's really yummie!
I look around thinking maybe I could have another better view, but I would have to pay for the entrnce.

Kręcę się po Piazza Venezia. Można wejść do Altare della Patria. No to wchodzę, bo z góry pewnie widok będzie lepszy. To ostatnie pociąga mnie oczywiście najbardziej. Z góry widok na zachód. Super.
I hang around Piazza Venezia. It's possible to enter Altare della Patria. So I go in, 'cause the view would be probably better form above. The sun has just came out. There is something inside, and because this time exceptionally ;) I didn't prepear myself, so I didn't even know what. But it's free so I go inside. There is a museum, a basilica and terraces. The last thing calls me the most of course. There's a view over west from above. Great.
There's the basilica on my way. I would rather leave it for later, but as experience shows I could not to come back here. And I was right ;) The basilica impresses very much, although it's not very very old. But it's quite big and made with a flourish. Very nice seiling, organs on both sides of the altair (it's a pity that it's not possible to hear them!), many chapels in the aisles. In addition I still stumble over tombstones, so I don't know if I should look above, under my feet or on the sides. I'll go to many churches in Rome, but it's here that I felt a special atmosphere.

I keep going and I can see... a high elevator which takes people to the roof... It costs seven euro, but I cant's just let it go, so I go and it's a very good decision! The view from above takes my breath away! Although at the first moment I regret a little bit, 'cause the time for making photos isn't the best - only clouds! But after ten minutes I stop regreting, 'cause the light starts changing every minute. Every minute the city looks different, different parts are lit. And the sky is full of cumuluses (I still don't have enough of looking at them), then rain, a rainbow and black stormy clouds. And it goes on, so I can't go away, I spend here more than an hour, and only the awareness of so many more things to see makes me go down!

Super!
Downstairs there are more views, this time over east. The storm gets closer and the light is great! Another rainbow appears, and it ends with a considerable hail fall and wind, so I'm a bit wet and chilled. So I hide to the museum, now I can take the time to see what they show here.
The museum is very interesting, it leads through history. Well, maybe the newer one, knowing I'm in Rome :) It's nice that things are written also in english, but it's a pity there's no time to read it all. It's more interesting than history books at school.
When I think that it's enough and start looking for the exit, I find another interesting exhibition with a balkan atmosphere - trearure of Albania :) And again I'm absorbed, there are ancient coins (a bit different from our or Roman ones), helmets and a big shield, jewellery, beautiful icons... Great!
